My name is Jarrod Greening. The 12th December 2002 was, I guess, the day of reckoning in my life. I have always had a strong will to do well in life; I guess this was going to test me out. I was involved in a very serious car accident. As a result of this car accident, I am now in a wheelchair after suffering very serious head injuries. These head injuries were so bad that for 4 months after my accident I was in a coma. The whole of my brain was injured, so I was affected in absolutely every facet of my life, from spending time with friend's right down to eating a meal. Let me explain a bit further. Being that my whole brain was injured; the functionality of every part of my body has been affected from not being able to walk, right down to the quality of my voice. I am not in my wheelchair due to spinal injuries. My spinal cord is intact, nothing happened to it at all. I am in a wheelchair because I have lost pretty much all of my co-ordination and my muscles no longer receive the correct instructions from my brain. Meaning they do not know their job. The initial plan up to 2 years after my injuries was to try and retrain each and every muscle on what their job was by participating in a rehabilitation program. This is all good in theory, but I just wasn't seeing the advantages of putting so much effort in EVERY day to do even the small things like wiping my nose. My injuries became a reality; they were going to stick around no matter how much effort or work I put in, so I gave up my rehabilitation program and figured that if I have to live my life sitting down, I'm going to make it the happiest seat in the world. My injuries were always going to be there, it was just the degree of impairment they would have on my life that I was able to have some control over. So I stuck out my rehabilitation until I was able to function reasonably well, I guess reasonably well, for someone who had taken on a B-double petrol tanker and lived to tell the tale. Due to these injuries I am unable to re-join the workforce for obvious reasons, hence the reason for starting this business. I didn't want to spend my life sitting staring at a wall.
